It had strengths, but illness overshadowed it

The weather made this our least happy cruise.

This week after our return it is 32C in the Arctic circle of Norway.

When we were there it was 6-10C.

It was too cold to sit around or use pool.

Royal class ships have no all weather pool.

So everyone was indoors all the time.

The low cloud and black clouds coupled with no sun diluted the scenery.

Then there was covid in week 2 .

We both felt ill disembarking and both tested positive last Sunday morning after we arrived home late Saturday teatime.

It was worse for Americans, Canadians and European passengers, most missed their flights home as Sky could not reach the Solent before the Channel was shut at 5-30am last Saturday for a round the Isle of Wight Yacht race.

So we were over 5 hours late docking and many passengers missed their homeward flights.

My wife tested negative yesterday, I still tested positive, but hope to be negative in a day or two.

It was good to be at sea but 3,100 indoors all the time made the ship very crowded and it was only 85% full.

The Royal ships need more chairs and more all weather areas.

We rated it our worst cruise experience to date in 20 cruises.

But we still booked a Future Cruise Deposit as veteran cruisers.
