Overall, a disappointing cruise which we would’core 6 out of 10.
P&O’s standards are definitely slipping.
Azura needs a refit now (not later) and is quite scruffy in places.
The Horizon buffet offers poor choice at lunchtimes and disappointing meals.
The staff are wonderful and helpful but the product they have to work is below par.
The My Holiday app was intermittent and frequently needed resetting.
Also, while the dinner reservation system worked on Aurora in September it seemed unable to cope with the numbers on Azura and the restaurant resorted to handing out the buzzer – which the My Holiday app was designed to eradicate! Apart from the welcome party, the Captain was, surprisingly, invisible (to us) round the ship.
He told us that over 1,000 were new to P&O and they seemed like it behaving with less than decorum at times.
In the dining room loud music over the loudspeakers simply made everyone else shout to make themselves heard which spoilt the dining experience.
A missed port at Fuerteventura was nobody’s fault but we were left wondering whether if we had got in, could we have got out? Bearing in mind that the next day we were due in Tenerife for the changeover we wondered if Southampton decided it was too great a risk? Despite prominent signs there was no Jude ice cream available on decks.
We are seriously considering abandoning P&O after 28 cruises, at best a 3 star experience.
