We sailed with P&O Cruises on board Arcadia.
There was chaos in Southampton – Arcadia had returned from a world cruise that morning – we were sat on the coach for 45 minutes before the driver was able to be given a space to unload the luggage.
We sailed through the Solent to difficult conditions – never experienced before . It may have been because Arcadia is a smaller ship than we’re used to or, it may have been, as was suggested, that the stabilisers weren’t being used.
The cabin seemed smaller, the bath was marked and impractical to use because of the siting of shampoo and body wash as well as no ‘grab rails’. The balcony had rust as well as a gully of water.
The crew were excellent; courteous, friendly and efficient despite being massively under-staffed, the cabin was clean and we were blessed by a cabin steward who went the extra mile. The food was first rate both in the restaurant and the buffet, the daytime entertainment during sea days was varied and interesting. The spa was efficiently run by experienced crew members.
The shopping was poor; no variety, little choice and overpriced.
