Booked an inside cabin through Bolsover Cruise Club as we thought the price was really competitive and too good to miss.

Booking was effortless and really easy with regular communications over the coming months from them.

On our cruise day we took advantage of the parking at the port, so simple, pull up and take your cases out and hand your key over.

Then dropped our cases at the relevant loading bay for the deck and went to check in.

A long queue but soon went down and was quite quickly checked in and through security and our first stop then was to find the muster station on board.

Very welcoming and helpful staff on the ship, our cabin was ideal and as expected.

The cabin steward met us and made us feel welcome, the cabin had a small tv, kettle, hairdryer, small fridge, safe etc and UK power sockets so no messing with adapters.

The bed was comfy and had air con which came in handy on a canaries cruise.

The restaurants and food was good and you have the option of eating in the main dining room, exclusive restaurant or the buffet.

We did opt for the earlier dining but unfortunately given the later time which meant we couldn’t attend some of the shows that we were hoping to see.

We did mention to the restaurant staff but couldn’t be accommodated at the earlier seating so used the buffet quite a bit.

Plenty of food options throughout the day and plenty of variety, some of the sweets (cakes etc) weren’t sweet enough for me but still plenty there.

The shows and talks we saw were good but found The Headliners performances on a par with amateur theatre.

The destinations on the cruise were really good with the exception of Lisbon which we missed due to industrial action and no alternative was offered.

Excursions were good although slightly pricey than if booked locally and we did the cable car and toboggan in Funchal.

Although an excursion we had to queue for around an hour for the toboggan with others so thought we could’ve done that ourselves cheaper.

So overall, a nice ship that isn’t too big, slightly dated and showing signs of age, great staff and very funny captain.

We’d definitely sail with P&O again and have already booked two cruises for the following year
