The reason why we chose Silversea Cruises was due to the interesting ports on the Black Sea that we would be visiting.
We were particularly interested in Batumi Georgia, where in 1914 my Mother was born, Sochi Russia home of the Winter Olympics, Yalta and Sevastapol in the Ukraine and also Odessa, the port from which my Uncle once, a long time ago, ran a shipping line.
Although we did not call at Yalta and Sevastapol, which was disappointing, the itinerary nevertheless met all our expectations.
Sailing on the Silver Wind was another experience, from the moment the butler unpacked our belongings until the end of the cruise, our every whim was indulged.
The service and the staff were excellent, very professional, without too much familiarity.
The food was very good, plenty of choices and dining alternatives for a small ship.
The evening entertainments were quite pleasant, but could have been a little more interesting incorporating more classical music, from our point of view.
The opportunity to meet and dine with a range of intelligent, interesting, international fellow travellers was an added bonus and we look forward to another Silversea adventure.
