There was a lot to like on this cruise

Food, service and organisation very good, as were the cabin and restaurant & bar staff.

Cabins and public areas were maintained to a high standard.

The facilities were as advertised and as we were going on this trip for our grandchildren it did not disappoint.

The entertainment offered was varied and of a very high standard.

I had envisaged a very high child to adult ratio but was surprised to find that this was not the case, which I thought strange as I could not image why you would go on this ship as a couple.

In the evening The Royal Parade turned into a market place with lots of sales opportunities accompanied by a loud brash cacophony of sound.

The up-seling was rampant, you could not escape the company desire to take more of your cash.

Then there is the Englishman’s pet hate, being asked to pay 18% gratuity when you buy anything on the ship even sweets in the shop.

We were offered a drinks package as an early booking incentive, which we appreciated, but how ludicrous is it when you can have as much beer and wine as you like , but had to pay for bottled water(plus gratuity).

Then when you have a drink on your package with prepaid gratuities, you are offer the opportunity to add a further gratuity.

Guess who will not be going on American style ships any more, luckily we have P&O.
