Unfortunately this was not the best P&O cruise we have taken.
Don’t get me wrong, the political situation, the weather and other external circumstances all contributed.
Aurora, albeit she was nearly empty, was a pleasure to sail on and most of the crew were welcoming and made us feel at home, however we found the menus in freedom dining quite repetitive.
Yet again there was an excess of green beans which need removing from service for a while.
We did enjoy using theCafeeria.
Obviously we had lost the whole of the original cruise and decided to accept the alternative offering, compounded by losing the first two ports to inclement weather, we needed something extraordinary to pick us up and Klaipeda and Gdynia failed to inspire.
Together with problems fulfilling the advertised excursion programs, promises of two days in Stockholm, we had only one and a half, and two days in Oslo, which due to the late departure of another liner reduced to one.
Coupled with the fact it was a bank holiday, which was not passed on until we were actually out on an excursion.
All this, plus a reduction in ports from the original itinerary, did not really give us value for money.
However, one poor experience does not spoil the whole brand, hopefully P&O can listen and return to the standards the set pre pandemic.
