We were originally booked on a Singapore/ Thailand/ Vietnam/ Cambodia Cruise with Princess Cruise 3 years ago but that was cancelled and we decided to book a British Isles one instead.
That was then cancelled twice but we finally managed to go in August this year.
Bolsover Cruises and Princess Cruises were both excellent in their handling of the situation for us and we were given future credit and on-board credit from Princess Cruises.
However the British Isles cruise was not as enjoyable as we had expected.
The reasons being as follows:- 1.
The medallion App was difficult to manage and even after updating everything as expected we were still asked to provide paper evidence of vaccinations, negative Covid tests.
We booked meal times and restaurants in advance for each day via the app but these were ignored and we had to queue for each meal.
2.
The ship did not dock near to the places of interest eg Cork, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Inverness, Edinburgh etc and each one was 30 mins to 45 mins away so a bus shuttle transfer was required and to be paid for.
3.
The cruise excursions were very expensive and one could have paid less than half that price if one had booked privately.
4.
My husband unfortunately had to seek medical assistance whilst on the cruise and although the medical team were very good we had to pay extra because he was taken ill “out of office ” hours.
The food in the restaurants was very good but not so good in the open buffet area.
We actually enjoyed the InternationalCafethat was in the open area on floor 5.
On the whole we thought the staff were very good especially the one who serviced our room daily.
