Firstly, the overall experience was good, food & staff met expectations.
The evening entertainment was really good & lots of choices.
My cabin carpet was very badly stained, the balcony rusty, glass very grubby.
The bed was very comfy & the cabin was well equipped.
Unfortunately our granddaughter aged 1 caught the ships sickness bug & this is where it all went wrong.
The staff that clean contaminated cabins are called the hit squad, they were elusive as apparently the ship only had one team operating.
After a so called thorough clean, the remains of crumbs dropped were still there, the plates from breakfast, lunch & dinner piled high outside cabin door.
My daughter watched their thorough cleaning from the balcony and they sprayed disinfectant & wiped only clear surfaces, the carpets were not cleaned & our 1 year old had been sick on them, the cabin smelt disgusting & I pity who ever had that cabin next.
Passengers were asked by the ships medical team to isolate for up to 48 hours after the last bout of sickness, they were told passengers having to isolate were given priority when ordering room service, my daughter waited 2 hours, after originally ordering at 5.30pm, reason given for wait was they had a high number of passengers in isolation, yet no announcements were made, passengers were able to continue serving themselves at the Buffett.
Please note we were only on a seven night cruise, this was especially disappointing as I travelled on Azura in March on a seven night cruise and caught the bug myself on that occasion and lost two days of my holiday.
These holidays are not cheap and we save for our holidays all year and often lose a weeks pay when we’re away if self-employed and yet no compensation is offered, they ask their passengers to isolate for 48 hours to eradicate the bug, I would suggest they should do the same and take the ship out of action for 48 hours & properly clean it & look after they passengers welfare better.
2 seven night cruises in a matter of 4 months apart & ships sickness bug caught on both occasions.
We were sitting in the Exchange Bar in deck six on our last evening & shockingly water started dripping through the ceiling, never seen that before, another passenger informed bar staff but no notice was taken, during the half hour we took to finish our drinks.
While this sickness bug remains I will not be rebooking with P&O.
