Our worst cruise ever-and we are well into double figures.
Viking organisation varied between absent, confusing and chaotic.
We have been on two previous excellent Viking river cruises but they do not appear to be able to deal with larger numbers.
Much advance preparation was irrelevant/ignored and instructions given to us at the airport were simply wrong making it touch and go whether we could board at all.
I won’t go into detail other than to recommend that you take written evidence of everything – Covid tests, vaccinations, inside leg measurements etc in triplicate.
The boat and cabin crew were excellent and the food generally good if the menu favoured the Americans.
Availability of excursions seemed doubtful-we were put on a waiting list for two guaranteed included tours.
The itinerary was interesting and well supported by information.
However we did not understand why we could not have our designated stop at the Faroes-we didn’t notice the rough sea.
This pales into insignificance when I mention the reason for the failure to have the second stop in Greenland-the sea was too cold!!!! Viking describe Greenland as ‘the land of the icebergs’ so didn’t they expect cold water??? It defies belief.
Allegedly the water had cooled and was too cold for the on board water purifiers.
Surely this could be foreseen /catered for) I have already wasted too much time on this cruise which I prefer to forget.
Viking River Cruises fine-but never again on the ocean!
