Two veterans have a cruise from hell on Iona in January 24.
Still getting over how bad our two weeks was.
Reading some of the other reviews of Iona, it appears we all have the same complaints.
First impression of the ship was good, until we saw the long queues on the tiny reception, bars, and on a random booking stand.
Huge problem having to book everything on the app, from restaurants, to shows.
My phone usage was up by 54% whilst on the cruise, when I spent two hours the week before sailing to book what we wanted.
So much booking and queues for restaurants even when booked.
Room was ok, wardrobe only enough space for one persons clothes.
No drawers just useless bedside cabinets.
Entertainment was dire.
Booked for shows but never sat through the whole show.
Costumes, worst I’ve ever seen, entertainment team, dreadful.
Can’t sing or dance.
Was sick of seeing the team practicing whilst having a coffee.
Juggler who kept dropping pins.
Why practice in front of guests??
No life in atrium except a piano player, constantly it was like a saga cruise, which brings me onto mobility scooters.
There were so many extra large scooters everywhere.
There should be a quota as if there was an emergency it would be chaotic.
Scooters in the horizon restaurant were dangerous.
Users would get up and walk to table!!!
Now onto food.
Sailed on over 35 cruises, this was the first cruise my friend lost weight.
Synthetic cream on deserts, frozen deserts, croissants, bread, veg, omg so bad.
Restaurants no better same quality food.
You go on a cruise to relax, but we just wanted to get off, which leads to the bad planning of leaving the ship.
No control over passengers who all got off the same time, into a small space where the cases were.
I could go on, but it’s pointless as nothing will change.
My advice is don’t book on Iona.
