We travelled on Britannia with daughters, son in law and two small grandchildren .
We have previously travelled on this ship and loved her, we even renewed our Wedding Vows onboard in 2016, but oh what a disappointment this time ..
tired, in places dirty and the family rooms very disappointing.
We had three cabins next to each other.
Within two weeks our daughter with the two small children had two toilet issues with water, urine and faeces coming out of the loo.
They were told the ship was full , they could not move them, and all they could do was a deep clean.
Our grandchildren were 14months and three and we evacuated them into our room as we waited to talk to the Health and Safety Officer.
A member of “Household management” came and advised us there was no Health and Safety officer and they had clean it up and the children would be fine in his opinion ..
it was all they could do ..
very unsatisfactory indeed.
We were disappointed by the lack of concern and attitude from many of the staff on board ..
but mainly reception and housekeeping
two days later our other daughter had black gunk coming up in her shower drain ..
it had been seen and covered by tissue after housekeeping had been.
When she also reported it ..
it took until the next day to come and sort … five adults and two small kids sharing one shower ..
think about it ..
believe you me it was no holiday
Then going back to the cabin that originally housed our grandchildren ..
the shower door hinges came away and the glass door came completely off ..wth! ..
the housekeeping/repairs came and dealt with the door ..
but assumed bathroom door ..
not shower door ..
they “repaired” the wrong door ..so again that took 4 phone calls and a further 24 hours ..
once again musical showering ..
a nightmare
Unbelievable ..
disappointing ..
and we felt actually no one was bothered to rush to help us
honestly this cruise was a game of two halves ..
Bad family rooms, servicing and cleaning
Bad response to major issues that occurred
The buffet a nightmare ..
but not staff they worked hard ..
it was the customers ..
rude and pushy and loud..
like being on a really bad Butlins holiday)
Entertainment poor, weak and a repeat of our previous cruise in 2023 nothing new or exciting
People saving sunbeds, many with towels on and not used ..
Positive Highlights
Food in Peninsular and Meridan was good, service good particularly managers Anil and Thagachan they were exceptional
Kids clubs actually saved the day ..
well done every one of you nursery workers and thank goodness for you all.
Eating in Sindu ..
professional, lovely food excellent service ..
so much so we did it twice
Nice lunch in Ollie’s too
Would I/we cruise on Britannia again … No
Would I/we cruise with P&O again ..
unlikely
Why because it wasn’t an all round experience ..
good food good facilities for the kids
Low cleaning standards in rooms ..
our sheets were not changed in two weeks ..
lipstick mark left on day three ..
still there on last night ..
shoddy
What was upsetting was our family saved for a long time to come with us ..on our previous recommendation … they did not get value for money or a positive experience and neither did we !
