This was our second cruise aboard Arcadia and again she did not disappoint.
On arriving at the dockside and seeing Arcadia moored up ready to take us on another adventure brought goose bumps and excitement for the sixteen nights ahead.
The formalities of making our way to the Muster Station and getting to our Cabin were quickly over and having cruised on Arcadia previously we felt very much at home with where everything was positioned.
We had the same Cabin on C Deck as our previous trip which even added more to the feeling of being made at ease.
First port of call was La Coruna following a day at sea and a Celebration Evening.
For us, this event is always a wonderful occasion and one we were fortunate to have three more times.
As ever the food on Arcadia is something special, especially in the evenings.
We take advantage of Freedom Dining as we like to eat early.
This gives us the opportunity to take part in numerous evening activities and get a great seat in the theatre, which gets very crowded, as the shows are out of this world.
The arrangements for early dining can get hectic as many passengers like to sit as a pair but Arcadia does not have sufficient number of pair tables.
This can cause issues, but they are now much better dealt with than on our previous cruise.
However, we were fortunate to be seated with the same waiting team for breakfast and dinner and this greatly enhanced are overall eating experience.
Following La Coruna it was Funchal in Madeira.
The two days spent here were a highlight of the cruise.
We took two shore experiences which were fantastic, especially the Evening Folklore.
This involved a wonderful meal in a local restaurant with traditional folk dancing as the entertainment.
The Cable Car and Botanical Gardens were also not to be missed.
Next followed Las Palmas and Grand Canaria.
Grand Canaria rivalled Madeira for top spot of the cruise, just sitting on the beach watching people surf and ambling around the town, in temperatures of 26 degrees, was idyllic.
We were not so impressed by Tenerife and Lanzarote although the excursion to the Mountain of Fire on Lanzarote was worth taking.
Our final port was Cadiz.
Our shore experience culminated in a bar where a fantastic show of Flamenco dancing and singing was performed as well as an opportunity to taste local culinary delights.
The journey back to Southampton took three days and for us was probably a day too long but still we made excellent use of all the ship had to offer.
The wife and I had a fun time and look forward to cruising again on Arcadia and cannot wait to see what her refit brings.
