I have just spent 2 nights aboard Harmony of the Seas ahead of her inaugural sailing and WOW what a ship! We embarked at the City Terminal in Southampton, using the Smart Check In online beforehand we had pre-booked our arrival slot for 12.30 – 1pm.
A quick scan of our passports and credit card and we were on board within 10 minutes.
We easily found our balcony cabin on deck 7.
It was smart, spacious and modern with two single wardrobes & drawer space (no tea & coffee facilities).
There was a hairdryer, large screen tv & a very comfy double bed and sofa area.
Average sized balcony with an ocean view (some balconies on board overlook the Boardwalk) with a table & 2 chairs.
The bathroom was decent size & nice to see a proper shower screen.
Plenty of lifts so never had to queue for long.
The WOW factor is evident as soon as you reach the main Promenade.
Numerous bars leading off it, shops (Tag Heur, Cartier, Kate Spade to name a few), a Jazz Club, nightclub, karaoke bar, live steel drum band playing (quite loudly), there was a real carnival atmosphere here! We even spotted a life-size Shrek & his Dreamworks pals wandering about.
Outside we arrived at Central Park, a beautiful outdoor area with lovely gardens,Cafes, Jamie’s Italian, even a ‘floating’ bar which slowly descended down to the Promenade deck and back up again.
The Boardwalk was a fairground themed area outside complete with carousel, hot dog vendor, and the final destination of the incredible 100ft ‘Ultimate Abyss’ slide! Walk a little further to the ‘Back Deck and you’ll find mini-golf and a huge sports court.
Fancy zip-writing across the Boardwalk? No, problem, there’s even a ‘Flowrider’ surf school outside.
We dined in one of the 4 main dining rooms American Icon, it was rather hectic in here with staff busy and not sure where table numbers were etc but I guess we were their first passengers.
Our waiter was very friendly and happy to make recommendations, checking if we had any allergies etc prior to ordering.
There was a good choice of food (approx.
6 mains to choose from).
Whilst on board we saw the show in the Royal Theater’, a production of Grease which was superb, the cast had obviously been working very hard.
We also saw a comedian Chris Ramsay of TV fame who was hilarious.
There was so much to see & do we were spoiled for choice.
The kids area was impressive, huge rooms each one dedicated to certain age groups, they even had their own cinema on board! In my opinion if you’re a family, young couple or young at heart and like a fun, lively atmosphere, plenty of choice and lots to do ‘ without having to compromise on quality and service ‘ then this ship is for you.
