Oasis of the Seas

What a beautiful ship the Oasis of the Seas is – enormous but beautiful.

We (family of 4 with 2 x 16 year olds) sailed from Port Canaveral having had a week in the parks in Orlando.

Mention here for Alamo car hire – drop off and pick up at the port are brilliant and just 5/10 minutes on their shuttle to the ship.

Captain Rob kept welcoming us to our “home away from home” and he was right felt very much at home.

Cabin was a squeeze with four of us and teenagers around 6ft tall.

Not much space to be honest enough though just with a bunk which dropped down.

Cabin steward was excellent and very helpful.

Plenty of excellent entertainment wasn’t necessary to book – although we should have.

Ice show, aqua show, CATS all worth seeing and films also a good addition.

Band in the Dazzles bar are also excellent as are the band on the sun deck “yeah man”, plenty cool! Loads of space so easy to find a quite(ish) spot.

Flowrider was fun – even for a 61 yr old! Teenagers joined the club and son met some friends who used the facilities and joined in the activities (out till 1.00am rounded up by security, which is good) but daughter didn’t mix much.

Food…plenty of it.

We had Anytime Dining and to be fair we never had a wait for a table.

Service was excellent and choice was good.

Have to say the food was – well OK found some of it rather bland and I needed more gravy/sauce!!!! Windjammer for breakfast and lunch – lots of choice (too much) – so much waste…..

So to the not so good – shopping (good if you like it) I was pretty fed-up after a week of being bombarded with watches, jewellery, bags, clothes and photographers…not so many bargains either and very tedious.

As for the “art” auctions – not sure who would buy that “art”, but its in your face.

Drinks $9 dollars for a Bud really! Cocktails $11/13 so be prepared oh and everything has a gratuity included – as well as the daily charge.

Excursions – like shopping…..you won’t be disappointed? We did our own thing apart from St Thomas (Sapphire Beach snorkelling and tour – beautiful view ,facilities and transport room for improvement) and therefore we got better value but do some research before you go.

Overall a great week and a great ship – just chill and enjoy…..
