The brand new ship arrived into Southampton 30 Oct 14 for the weekend and I was lucky enough to be one of the FIRST passengers to see what this all singing, all dancing, Smartship has to offer and one thing is for sure she offers ALOT!! From the moment you board you are very aware that technology is at the forefront of this magnificent ship.
A steward guided us to a Smart screen that offers a cabin locator system, you enter your stateroom number and it brings up directions, definitely useful as this ship is huge.
After a short walk we arrived at our stateroom, a superior ocean view stateroom with balcony.
The contemporary d’cor added to the spacious feel of the stateroom, offering an abundance of storage; wardrobes with drawers on each side of the bed, storage cupboards above the bed and the seating area and even more storage over by the vanity area, these rooms are very well designed.
In our staterooms we also found our WOW bands this too is a new feature, WOW bands replace cruise cards (whilst on board) a watch in effect that is used to unlock your stateroom and to make purchases, however don’t despair if this may cramp your style or not match your evening attire as the traditional cruise cards are still available and are also required when disembarking on port days.
Aboard Quantum of the Seas you have the option to do as much or as little as you like.
An array of facilities are available for the thrill seeker, just head to the Seaplex for dodgems, roller skating and Circus school where you can learn the art of trapeze, Ripcord by iFly – the skydive simulator or catch some waves on the FlowRider and let’s not forget North Star, where you ascend 90 meters above sea level for breath taking views of the ocean.
If relaxation is more your bag the sunshine bar this area has pools, whirlpools and cabanas where you can sit back relax and literally watch the world go by as the floor to ceiling glass windows afford spectacular views.
Head to the promenade and you will find the bars, restaurants a patisserie and shops’lots of shops to pick up your duty free wares.
To sum up my time on board is extremely difficult as there were so many highlights in such a short space of time but one thing is for sure my time on board Quantum of the Seas was definitely a memorable one.
