We have done numerous cruises previously and as the Monaco GP and Star Clipper were both on the ‘to do’ list so we decided to combine them.
We joined Star Flyer in Cannes the check in was straight forward and provision of fruit, water and fruit juice was a nice touch as we waited to embark, on embarkation we were met with a cocktail and canap??s and had a little time to met fellow passengers and crew before we were shown to our cabin.
A catogory 3 mid ships although not large it was well appointed with sufficient storage and a comfortable bed in fact we slept well every night, the bathroom is small but functional again with adequate storage.
The meals offered a good choice and were well cooked / presented amazing considering the size of the galley, all the crew were efficient and friendly nothing being too much trouble which made for a good atmosphere.
Being on deck is a wonderful experience as you watch the ship being sailed I will go so far as to saying it’s very romantic.
Entertainment on board is somewhat low key but enjoyable non the less especially as passengers soon get to know one another and many late nights were had on deck at the tropical bar.
The weather could have been kinder we did have a couple of sunny days but it was mostly chilly with quite a sea swell which made tendering tricky, the ports of call Monaco, St Margareta, Elba, and Bastia were very enjoyable but especially the sail into Bonafaccio Corsica we had to miss the beach transfer the following day as there was too much swell so the captain decided to have a day sailing and find some sunshine a great decision we had a wonderful day enjoying the experience.
There are high sills going out onto the deck, steps are steep and there some movement in a swell so this is not for anyone who is not good on their feet ( or for high heels ).
All that being said we a completely hooked and are looking forward to our next sailing with Star Clippers.
