Our first Viking ocean cruise having done plenty of ocean cruises with other cruise lines and one river cruise with Viking.
The ship, food and crew were excellent.
We sailed from Barcelona to Rome and the ports were generally ok and the included excursions were of a reasonable standard.
The reason for 4 stars is because of the timing and quality of flights.
It took 13 hours to get home when we could easily have done it in less than half the time, plus our cases were delayed for 4 days (thankfully this was the return leg and not at the beginning of our holiday) Excessively long connection times at airports added to travel time.
Viking will only use certain airlines which limits choice and makes for unnecessarily long travel times.
Our return flights were with British Airways.
We’ve never flown with them before and were far from impressed.
My husband was sat in a seat that was falling apart.
We like Viking but our flight experience on both our ocean and river cruise is seriously putting us off Viking.
We’ve got our flight times for a future cruise with Viking and the times are not very good.
