The flights from UK to Budapest were organised by Viking and our outward journey went via Amsterdam for some reason. so rather than a 3 hour direct flight our journey took 6 hours – unacceptable.
The cabin was small but nicely laid out and had everything we needed.
Dining arrangements were the biggest disappointment. The main dining room is set out with tables for 6/8/10. No tables for 2 or 4. It was more like a canteen.
The food was good but with very limited choice. Every day there were local food menus which were not to our taste so we had to rely on the everyday available menu. Breakfast was also a limited selection. Lunch was definitely the best meal.
We were on the silver beverage package and it was excellent, particularly the selection of high quality wines. The best drinks selection we have had on any of our ocean cruises.
No pool and no gym although there was a walking track.
Entertainment was OK, including local acts brought onto the ship.
Walking tours included in the price, were very well organised and very knowledgeable guides.
