Margerie and Johns Hopkins are two of the most popular named glaciers in Glacier Bay, presenting majestic views of colossal ice chunks breaking off and crashing into the bay. Visitors can experience these spectacular sights even more closely through boat tours that venture near the tidewater glaciers, or those who prefer smaller-scale explorations can opt for kayaking as an intimate way to navigate these floating wonders.

The only developed area in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Bartlett Cove is home to the park’s headquarters, visitor centre, a native tribal house, public-use dock, and a few campgrounds. Visitors can gaze out across the cove's serene waters while exploring its lush ecosystems on foot or take part in water activities like kayaking. Wildlife sightings are common here, with potential sightings of sea lions, otters and a variety of birds.

Glacier Bay is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, serving as home to a diverse array of animal species. On a Glacier Bay cruise, one of the most unmissable destinations is the nature that surrounds the ship! Marine wildlife, from humpback whales and orcas to sea otters and harbour seals, dominates these waters, and puffins, gulls and bald eagles might also be spotted flying overhead. On land, visitors might spot bears grazing in meadows or fishing along the bay's inlets, and moose, wolves and mountain goats can also be spotted in and around the park's forested areas.
