Located next to the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Sandy Cay will offer a more intimate and secluded island experience for guests sailing with MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys. The new destination is designed to complement Ocean Cay, providing a quieter, more immersive connection to the natural beauty of the region.
Characterised by its pristine white aragonite sands, among the brightest in the world, Sandy Cay has been envisioned as a place of tranquillity, where guests can enjoy a more relaxed and understated island escape. The development builds on the success of Ocean Cay, maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and the surrounding marine environment.
Guests visiting Sandy Cay will be able to experience a different side of the Bahamas, with the island offering a more exclusive and nature-led atmosphere, while remaining within the same crystal-clear waters as Ocean Cay.
Alongside the announcement, MSC Cruises has also confirmed further enhancements to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Planned upgrades include new dining venues, additional beach concepts for both families and adults, expanded relaxation areas and new experiences focused on marine conservation.
Together, Sandy Cay and the ongoing evolution of Ocean Cay reflect MSC Group’s wider ambition to enhance its private island offering, creating seamless connections between onboard life and destinations ashore.
Sandy Cay will welcome its first guests in 2028, offering a new dimension to Caribbean sailings for both MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.
