Princess Cruises has further elevated the onboard dining experience aboard Diamond Princess with the introduction of two new speciality restaurants: Makoto Ocean and the much-loved Crown Grill.

Makoto Ocean, located on Deck 7, brings the refined artistry of Chef Makoto Okuwa’s Edomae-style sushi to Diamond Princess. Already a popular feature aboard Sun Princess and Star Princess, the venue showcases a premium menu including truffle salmon, snow crab temaki and toro tartare. Guests can also enjoy handcrafted cocktails inspired by Japanese flavours, such as the Genmai Negroni and Kodai No Hana, blending yuzu juice with traditional Doburoku sake.

Also debuting is Princess Cruises’ signature steakhouse, Crown Grill, now located in the former Savoy Dining Room on Deck 5. A long-standing guest favourite, Crown Grill is renowned for its premium aged beef, fresh seafood and attentive service, and has consistently been recognised among the best cruise ship steakhouses at sea.

Both Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill are priced at $55 per person and are included for guests who purchase the Princess Premier package.

Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises Vice President Food and Beverage, said: “With Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill now onboard Diamond Princess, and also recently added onboard sister ship Sapphire Princess, we’re proud to enhance the guest experience as Diamond Princess sails across Asia and as we look ahead to our dual-ship Japan season in 2027.”

Looking ahead, Princess Cruises has announced its most expansive Japan season to date in 2027. For the first time, both Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess will sail from the Tokyo region throughout the entire season.

The programme includes 78 departures across 50 unique itineraries, ranging from seven to 28 nights. Sailing from March to December 2027, the season marks a major milestone in the cruise line’s long-standing legacy in Japan and is now open for sale.
