Zuiderdam Refurbishment to Introduce New Suites and Signature Venues

Holland America Line has revealed Zuiderdam as the next ship to undergo a major transformation as part of its Holland America Evolution programme.

The Zuiderdam refurbishment will introduce new accommodation categories, refreshed cabins and suites, and a larger choice of onboard venues. The ship is the second of six ships confirmed for the programme, following Oosterdam, as Holland America Line rolls out what it describes as the largest fleet update in its history.

New Suites and Staterooms Coming to Zuiderdam

The refurbishment will expand the choice of accommodation aboard Zuiderdam with a combination of new suites, solo cabins and refreshed existing staterooms.

Changes will include two new Bridgeview Suites, 14 Vista Suites and 32 Solo Verandah staterooms, alongside a redesigned Pinnacle Suite. Accommodation throughout the ship will also be refreshed as part of the wider transformation.

Bridgeview Suites to Offer Forward-Facing Views

Two Bridgeview Suites will be introduced above the ship’s bridge, giving guests sweeping forward-facing views through wraparound windows.

Each suite will also feature a private balcony and separate living and sleeping areas, creating a light-filled space designed to make the most of the surrounding scenery.

New Solo Verandah Staterooms

Solo travellers will have more accommodation options following the Zuiderdam refurbishment, with 32 purpose-built Solo Verandah staterooms joining the ship.

Designed specifically for one guest, each cabin will include its own private balcony and a living space tailored to solo cruising. The addition follows the introduction of Solo Verandah cabins aboard Oosterdam as part of the same Evolution programme.

Vista Suites to Join Zuiderdam

Zuiderdam will also gain 14 Vista Suites, bringing a popular accommodation category from Holland America Line’s Pinnacle Class.

The suites will feature a sitting area, oversized windows and a private verandah, offering guests additional space while retaining the bright and open design associated with the category.

Pinnacle Suite to Receive a New Look

The ship’s largest accommodation will be redesigned as part of the refurbishment.

The reimagined Pinnacle Suite will offer a residential-style layout with generous living areas, updated finishes and panoramic ocean views, creating an enhanced experience for guests staying in the ship’s most spacious suite.

Grand Dutch Café to Make Its Zuiderdam Debut

Another major addition will be the Grand Dutch Café, one of Holland America Line’s signature Pinnacle Class venues.

Inspired by cafés found across Amsterdam and Northern Europe, the venue will serve coffee, light bites, beer and aperitifs throughout the day. It will be designed as a relaxed social space where guests can stop for a quick drink or spend longer enjoying the surroundings.

The Grand Dutch Café aboard Zuiderdam is set to be the largest version of the venue introduced through the Holland America Evolution programme.

What Is Holland America Evolution?

Holland America Evolution is a fleet-wide modernisation programme designed to introduce popular Pinnacle Class experiences to more of the cruise line’s ships.

Zuiderdam is the second of six ships currently announced for the programme, with Oosterdam set to become the first vessel to complete its transformation. The updates are expected to combine new accommodation choices with enhanced public spaces and signature Holland America Line venues.

Further information about the Zuiderdam refurbishment, including its completion date and first post-refit itineraries, has yet to be announced.
