Sapphire Princess Welcomes New Speciality Restaurants & More

Following a two-week drydock, Sapphire Princess has re-entered service showcasing an array of new features and two speciality dining venues: Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill. Both restaurants will welcome Princess Cruises guests from 16 November 2025, offering elevated culinary experiences at sea.

The 115,875-ton ship, accommodating 2,670 guests, has undergone a series of enhancements, the most notable being the transformation of two existing venues into dedicated fine-dining spaces.

Makoto Ocean Sushi by Chef Makoto Okuwa

After successful introductions aboard Sun Princess and Star Princess, Makoto Ocean joins Sapphire Princess in place of the former Internet Café on Deck 7. The restaurant showcases the refined Edomae-style sushi of renowned chef Makoto Okuwa, blending traditional techniques with modern flair.

Guests can expect a carefully curated menu featuring dishes such as truffle salmon, snow crab temaki and toro tartare. Signature cocktails, including the Genmai Negroni – a Japanese interpretation of the classic – and Kodai No Hana, made with yuzu juice and Doburoku sake, complete the experience.

Crown Grill Steakhouse

The ship’s Crown Grill, replacing the former Savoy Dining Room on Deck 5, brings a beloved Princess Cruises favourite to Sapphire Princess. Known for its warm, elegant atmosphere and exceptional service, the Crown Grill serves premium aged beef, chops and fresh seafood. The restaurant has consistently been recognised among the finest steakhouses at sea.

Both Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill will carry a cover charge of $60 per person, and are included as part of the Princess Premier package.

What’s Next for Sapphire Princess?

Following her revitalisation, Sapphire Princess will sail to Mexico before repositioning for a South America and Antarctica season. In spring and summer 2026, she will journey through the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, before heading to Canada and New England in the autumn.

With her refreshed interiors and two new dining experiences, Sapphire Princess promises an enhanced voyage for guests as she embarks on her next series of global adventures.
