This was our first time on a Princess cruise , to be honest it will be our last, first impressions were good but then we reached our cabins, considering we paid extra for reserved collection it’s not worth the bother, the cabin was not the cleanest but our relatives in the next cabin suffered far worse, they had to get the room cleaned twice to get it any where near presentable.
The reserve collection is supposed to get you a special area and menu in the restaurant, well that’s not up to much either, just one extra choice on the existing menu and we had to wait ages for wine to be delivered along with the food and it wasn’t always hot, a few times dinner took so long we missed going to the theatre for the show, there was no specific wine waiter so the waiters had to keep nipping off to the bar, obviously not enough staff.
Dress code for these ships should be scrapped, a lot of people entering the restaurants in shorts/t shirts, ripped Jeans and very scruffy attire, not sure why they bother with a formal night only a handful bothered.
There appeared to be a numerous supply of photographers on the boat constantly trying to get you to pose not just on formal nights.
The entertainment in the theatre was usual as most ships are and they had a few very good guest entertainers.
We we’re supposed to visit Liverpool and Orkney on our round the British isles cruise but these were cancelled and had Holyhead and Portland inserted instead, if this happens to you and you don’t book a tour be prepared to walk around Holyhead that looks like it’s not made it’s way out of the 1970’s, very disappointing, we had 3 tours booked only as they are quite expensive and did the rest ourselves.
The staff on board the ship we always very friendly and helpful except for the surly female staff in the onboard shops – excluding the jewellery ones, it was all most as if we we an encumbrance for wanting service.
