Sun Princess

We were disappointed with some aspects of the new Sun Princess.

For us it was too big and difficult to find your way around.

Our cruise, we thought, was a three week one but when we left Barcelona we found that it was three 7-day back-to-backs.

Beware of this! It was a real disruption on Friday nights and on Saturdays (change-over days) We found the menus and the entertainments were repeated during those three weeks.

The food was not up to the standard that we are used to on Sky Princess, which we have used frequently.

The captain’s reception was very poor and all over in around 10 minutes.

We missed Santorini due apparently for safety reasons following earth tremors earlier in the year and were gutted to find when we met fellow English cruisers in Piraeus, that the P&O Azurer (a ship in the same Carnival family) was visiting the following day.

(Our reason for going on this crise was to see a friend there, whom we hadn’t seen for two years!).

Mykonos was substituted for Santorini – but we had spent a full-day there two days previously and its only a small island! In fairness there was a lot that we enjoyed, but as the Princess flagship, we were not over impressed – big is not always beautiful! – and will not go on that ship again.
