You’ve booked your holiday and you’ve arranged your travel insurance; all that’s left to do now is pack your case and arrange parking at the port. We know parking isn’t particularly exciting, but if there is one query that comes up time and time again it’s this; where to park in Southampton.
Did you know, port operator ABP handle over 440 cruise ship calls per year in Southampton? That’s a lot of passengers and a lot of cars! With Anthem of the Seas sailing from Southampton following its launch in April 2015, it’s more important than ever to make sure you beat the crowds and get your parking in order.
ABP has opened up a bigger and better world for cruisers out of Southampton; in 2007 ABP invested over £9 million in an extensive refurbishment and upgrade of the City Cruise Terminal. This investment gave Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises a permanent home in the port and enables the terminal to accommodate some of the largest cruise vessels afloat.
If you’re setting sail with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Fred. Olsen, Norwegian Cruise Lines, MSC and Silver Seas, then ABParking are on hand to make the whole parking process a breeze – leaving you more time to swot up on those travel guides and make a start on packing your case!
» Park minutes not miles from your cruise, adjacent to the cruise terminal, in view of your cruise ship!
» ABParking is owned by ABP, the owners of the Port of Southampton and operate the only cruise car parks located within the secure port estate for passengers of Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruise Lines, Fred. Olsen, Norwegian Cruise Lines, MSC and Silver Seas.
» 30,000 people book their cruise car parking with ABParking each year
» Safe and secure – ABParking have been awarded the ‘Park Mark’ – a status awarded only to parking facilities that meet the stringent requirements of a police risk assessment
» Dedicated Blue Badge parking (see below for more information)
» Both Celebrity Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean regularly offer FREE PARKING with ABParking as part of your cruise package. Keep an eye out for special offers on your next cruise!
How does it work?
ABParking offer several options for parking in Southampton;
Long Stay Car Parks
With ABParking you park minutes not miles from the cruise terminal. Simply park your car in the secure long stay car park adjacent the cruise terminal and walk less than five minutes to your cruise terminal. Car parks are self-parking, so you’ll take your keys with you on holiday.
Porters will be waiting at the terminal drop-off points – simply hand over your luggage and they’ll make sure it makes its way to your stateroom.
Shuttle Car Parks
Don’t be fooled into thinking a shuttle means a long trip to the ship; ABParking’s ‘shuttle’ car park is located within the ABP Port estate; less than a 4-minute drive from the City Cruise Terminal.
If you’d like to drop your luggage off first, proceed directly to the cruise terminal before then following signs to the shuttle car park. Alternatively, proceed through Dock Gate 8 or 10 and bring your luggage back to the terminal with you. The ABParking team will make the process a smooth one from start to finish.
Blue Badge Parking
ABParking offers a dedicated blue badge car park next to Cruise City Terminal. Book well in advance, and make sure to display your blue badge!
Valet Parking/Meet & Greet
Fred. Olsen passengers are offered ‘Meet & Greet’ parking with ABParking.
Simply drive to your designated cruise terminal, where a traffic marshal will guide you to the drop off area. An ABP representative will meet you to take your keys from you before you make the very short walk to your cruise terminal.
One your return, your ABP representative will meet you at ‘key collection’ with your keys. Your car will be parked just a few moments from the terminal building.

Can I park my motorhome or caravan?
ABParking accepts motorhome and caravan bookings, however, availability is limited and you should speak to an ABP representative over the phone to arrange. Parking for motorhomes and caravans is at an additional charge due to the larger space they take in the car park
Can I just turn up and pay on the day?
Yes, however, availability of spaces is not guaranteed and paying on the day is more expensive than booking in advance. We always suggest booking in advance – it’s one more thing off your to-do list!
Note – ABParking do not offer car parking facilities for Carnival UK (P&O Cruises, Cunard Line & Princess Cruises), please call their operator Cruise and Passenger Services directly on 02380 334883 for these services.
