If space and comfort are top of your wish list when it comes to choosing a cabin, a Conservatory Mini Suite on Arvia or Iona is just the ticket. These new stateroom types were introduced to the Excel Class ships for the first time, and having experienced them for ourselves we can safely say they are worth a closer look.

They offer a balance between a balcony cabin and a suite, with features designed to bring you closer to your surroundings. The extra lounge area is the perfect place to relax with a book, enjoy a pre-dinner drink, or simply kick back at the end of a day exploring the ship or ashore.

These cabins are suitable for up to four passengers and are available in a king-size or twin-bed configuration.

The Benefits of a P&O Cruises Conservatory Mini Suite

Measuring approximately 274 square feet – including the balcony – this type of cabin benefits from a bright and airy sleeping space, but also an L-shaped seating area. This is located between the bedroom and balcony and can be closed off using the sliding doors to separate it from the main sleeping area.

The advantages? If you want to enjoy a morning coffee from the comfort of your stateroom without disturbing your cabin mate, you can do just that. Simply use the sliding doors and curtains to separate the seating area from the main cabin and, you guessed it, you find yourself in an area that feels much like a conservatory – hence the name, Conservatory Mini Suite.

But that’s not all. From here, you can open the balcony doors and let the outside in, allowing you to make the most of the incredible ocean views or your next port of call. It’s the flexibility of the Conservatory Mini Suite that makes it so appealing.

Our Verdict

Product Manager Katie recently stayed in an Arvia Conservatory Mini Suite on a Caribbean sailing. Here’s her first-hand account of how it fared.

“The Conservatory Mini Suite is a fantastic option for guests looking for a bit of extra space. The conservatory section extends the balcony cabin providing a whole extra living area, which makes the room feel much larger.

I spent all of my time in the cabin in the conservatory area with the bi-fold doors wide open – I absolutely loved it. The indoor-outdoor concept is amazing, as the conservatory doors open fully to really let the outside in. Just imagine lounging around your cabin with a view straight out to the bright blue Caribbean Sea!

One of the biggest benefits of the Conservatory Mini Suite is that it makes for the perfect space to enjoy the hotter climate in a shaded environment – it’s the ideal space to sit back relax and read a book. I could really see the potential for families sharing a cabin as well, as children would be able to have their own area, close the door, and give their parents an extra bit of breathing space.”
